We toured the Shaker museum and learned so much about them. They were wonderful carpenters and craftsmen. They all lived together, men in one part, women in another and children in another. There were no families. Men and women could not even look at one another. A man and women would sneak away so they could be together and marry. Children were sometimes dropped off there because the families were unable to take care of them, and they knew they would be taken care of by the Shakers. It was almost impossible for the families to get there children back if their situations changed and they were again able to take care of them. Steve is pulling the cord that rang the large bell.
